J-1 Au pair Application Process

Traveling around the world to be an Au pair in America is a big decision. So before you go, you’ll want to be confident you’ve made the right choice.

Your detailed application and profile are two key aspects that host families will evaluate when considering you as their Au pair. As such, there’s a process you must go through to complete the application.

Our application is easy to complete. It consists of questions that will help your potential host family evaluate your skills and experience so they may decide if you’re a good fit for their family.

The ADAYSS application consists of the following parts:

  1. Completed online application.
  2. Uploaded photographs and video – Smile! This is where your personality shines!.
  3. Two childcare references and one personal reference.
  4. Copy of your secondary school completion certificate.
  5. Medical form signed and stamped by your doctor.
  6. Online DISC psychometric test.
  7. Criminal background check.
  8. Signed Au pair agreement.

All of the documents listed above must be clearly legible, scanned and saved as PDF files and then uploaded into your account under the My Account section when you log in. It might seem like a lot of information, but remember this is what helps match you with an ideal Host family.

Requirements

  1. Be between the ages of 18 and 26 years old.
  2. Be a non-US citizen and live in a country serviced by ADAYSS.
  3. Love children and have at least 500 hours of experience caring for them.
  4. Speak English proficiently B1 (Don’t worry! Your English doesn’t have to be perfect!).
  5. Have no criminal background.
  6. Have secondary school completed.
  7. Have a valid driver’s license.
  8. Be in good health and be a non-smoker.
  9. Be willing to come to the US for one year.

Au pair in USA Fees

  1. Online Registration Fee 50€ (not refundable fee). Management of documentation and family search.
  2. Remaining fee once we review the profile have the requirements to participate in the program 450€.
  • Long term Au pairs (12 months).

 

What do au pairs do?

  1. Playing and supervising children.
  2. Preparing meals and cleaning up afterwards.
  3. Making school lunches.
  4. Helping with bathtime.
  5. Driving children to school and activities.
  6. Helping with homework and tutoring.
  7. Doing childrens’ laundry.
  8. Keeping kids’ rooms tidy and organized.
  9. Other child-related duties requested by your family.

ADAYSS Au pair USA offers

  1. Placement with an American Host Family.
  2. Private bedroom and meals.
  3. Weekly stipend paid to the Au pair of $ 195.75.
  4. One and one-half days off per week.
  5. Full weekend off each month.
  6. Receive up to $500 in education allowance to take courses while in the US.
  7. Have 30 days at the end of your program to travel.
  8. Airplane tickets round-trip (the return once the year of stay is finished).

Inspiration

  3. Have opportunities to travel and see the US.
  4. Care and guidance from our team during your program.
  5. Documentation allowing you to receive a J-1 visa.
  6. Training Academy before you arrive in the US.

  8. The opportunity to extend your stay for another 6, 9, or 12 months after your first year
